Lost & Rootless

LP — Released November 28, 2014 — Chunksah Records

Album Information

Ten years ago I recorded some acoustic songs as keepsakes for myself, and to give to family and close friends. Those songs became a “demo” that was later released by a small DIY record label and I hit the road, singing those songs to anyone who would listen. I’m both excited and humbled to still be at it ten years later. I have more fun with music now than I ever have in my life. I’m thankful.

With that said, I’m pleased to announce the release of my 5th studio album, “LOST & ROOTLESS” available NOVEMBER 28 on Chunksaah Records.

Raising Hell & Living Cheap - Live in Richmond

LP — Released May 13, 2014 — Chunksah Records

Album Information

After more than twenty five years of making music, and a full decade as a solo folk-rock troubadour, Tim Barry presents his first ever concert recording, Raising Hell & Living Cheap – Live In Richmond. As a forward-thinker not big on sentiment or revisiting the past, Barry had sometimes toyed with the idea of releasing a live set, but only if it resonated as an authentic document of the interplay between artist and audience, which—without toting along a professional sound engineer to record a series of shows—can seem an almost insurmountable challenge.

Review

"Named after the term given to 'fake' train hoppers (which Barry readily admits to being, even though he has illegally rode freight trains for nearly half his life) by the lifers of the railway riders, 40 Miler starts with 'Weezeltown', a handclap led ode to the loneliness of traveling through the endless miles of highway and the small American towns that soon blur into one for everybody that has a job or leads a life that involves constant movement." - For The Love of Punk

Manchester

Released November 4, 2008 — Suburban Home Records

Album Information

Released in 2008 on Suburban Home records, Tim enlisted the help of Buz Blurr who describes himself as "a retired railroad man who indulged in the folk art tradition of making chalk drawings on the railcars as an announcement of presence, and diversion from boredom.

Although against the rules of the railroad, it was a common enough practice by the employees and hobos, by ignoring enforcement it was de facto tacit approval, for I dispatched drawings for 32 years of my 41 years of employment without interference." Buz resides in Arkansas (which he colorfully describes as 'Surrealville') and is well known for his postage stamp and train art. Ryan Patterson of Coliseum put the entire package together.
