On September 23, 2017 I’m playing the Carpenter Center with the Richmond Symphony backing me. There are 5 players, each doing short sets. I’m thrilled, honored and scared shitless to have been invited.

Tickets go on sale August 1. Please come.

Here’s the press release:

RICHMOND, VA — On Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, see “RVA Live!” at the Dominion Arts Center’s Carpenter Theatre. This one-of-a-kind event is presented by The Broadberry in partnership with the Richmond Symphony. Artists include Matthew E. White, Natalie Prass, Tim Barry, Bio Ritmo, and Clair Morgan.

“RVA Live!” is a showcase designed to incorporate music of several genres and styles and some of Richmond’s top talent; bringing these acts together on one stage with a full live orchestra for the first time. “RVA Live!” will demonstrate and highlight a fantastic sample of Richmond’s ever-rising music scene, solidifying RVA as a top music destination.

“The idea of RVA Live! is something I’ve been contemplating for some time and I am excited that the right partnership has presented itself.” says the Broadberry’s Lucas Fritz. “With the help and guidance from the good people at the Richmond Symphony, it is finally happening. It is truly an honor to help curate such a special night of music with the talented artists involved. I had the pleasure of working on Matthew E White and Natalie Prass’ debut albums here in town. All the other bands I hold near and dear to my heart as they’ve really helped make The Broadberry and The Camel the wonderful venues that they have become over the past eight years. Bringing together all the different genres on one stage, especially Carpenter Theatre with the Richmond Symphony, is going to be truly amazing.”
“The Richmond Symphony’s 60th Anniversary Season is designed to be a year-long festival of music at its finest, performed in settings that celebrate past, present and future. The artists featured are some of the best in their field and the world, opening with the incomparable pianist Lang Lang, and closing with a commission from Richmond’s own Mason Bates, in a world premiere performance” says Richmond Symphony Executive Director David J.L. Fisk. “In showcasing RVA as a city of great music of all kinds, we’re delighted to partner with The Broadberry to present these stellar Richmond musicians onstage with the Richmond Symphony. We welcome all of Richmond to join us for a concert at the Carpenter Theatre (and an after-party at The Broadberry) that will be talked about for many years to come”.

Musical talent for this showcase is curated by owner and talent buyer of The Broadberry, Lucas Fritz. Orchestrations will be created by Trey Pollard (Spacebomb Records), Marlysse Simmons, and Toby Whitaker.

Pre-sale tickets will be available through individual artists via promo codes starting on July 10th, 2017. Tickets to the general public will go on sale on August 1st, 2017. Tickets will be available via etix.com. “RVA Live!” will take place at the Dominion Arts Center’s Carpenter Theatre, which is located at 600 E. Grace St, Richmond VA 23219.

Following the event, The Broadberry, located at 2729 West Broad Street, will host an after party open to the public.
